How we read it
Known to clog pores. If you break out easily, this is the one to skip.
Is Avocado Oil comedogenic?
Yes. Avocado Oil is a known pore-clogging ingredient, and we read it as highly comedogenic. If you're acne-prone, it's worth avoiding, especially when it sits near the top of an ingredient list.
Why we read it this way
Avocado oil is an oleic-rich oil pressed from the flesh of the fruit, thick in texture and used to soften and cushion dry skin. We read it as highly comedogenic, and that weight is a lot for a face that breaks out.
The nuance
Some sources read avocado oil as only a moderate risk, and it is often sold as a mild, natural choice. We read it higher. Avocado butter, a thickened form of the same oil, gets the same call from us.
Where it shows up
Avocado oil is common in rich face creams and facial oils for dry skin, eye creams, body butters, hair masks and natural soap bars.
