How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Centella Asiatica comedogenic?
No. Centella Asiatica isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Centella asiatica is a small leafy herb, often sold as cica, whose extract is used to soothe skin that feels stressed or stripped. The extract is light and usually water-based, with none of the weight of a plant oil or butter. We read it as not pore-clogging.
The nuance
Cica is a marketing word as much as an ingredient. Many cica creams and balms are built on rich butters and waxes, so the extract reading as not pore-clogging says nothing about the rest of the jar.
Where it shows up
Calming serums, toners, sheet masks, barrier creams and recovery balms, along with some sunscreens and cushion foundations.
Names we read the same way
