How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Decyl Glucoside comedogenic?
No. Decyl Glucoside isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Decyl glucoside is a cleansing agent built from glucose and a plant-derived fatty alcohol, giving a soft foam that lifts oil without the bite of a sulfate. It mixes freely with water and goes when the wash does. We read it as not pore-clogging.
The nuance
Gentle is relative. A small number of people react to the glucoside family with a rash, which is an allergy and has nothing to do with congestion. In a face wash it is on the skin for moments before the water takes it off.
Where it shows up
Baby washes, sulfate-free shampoos, gel face washes and foaming cleansers for sensitive skin, along with many products labeled natural or fragrance-free.
