How we read it
Known to clog pores. If you break out easily, this is the one to skip.
Is Decyl Oleate comedogenic?
Yes. Decyl Oleate is a known pore-clogging ingredient, and we read it as highly comedogenic. If you're acne-prone, it's worth avoiding, especially when it sits near the top of an ingredient list.
Why we read it this way
Decyl oleate is an ester of decyl alcohol and oleic acid, a thin oily liquid that helps a cream spread easily and leaves skin soft without a greasy film. We read it as Highly comedogenic for acne-prone skin.
The nuance
The light feel misleads people, since a thin texture says nothing about how an ester behaves in a pore. Label position matters more. High in a leave-on face product it carries real weight, and as a trace near the end far less.
Where it shows up
Decyl oleate turns up in face creams, body lotions, sunscreens, liquid foundations and hair conditioners, usually as part of the oil blend that sets the texture.

One ingredient rarely tells the whole story. The acne ingredient checker reads everything in a product at once, the pore-clogging ingredients list has the rest of what we flag, and there is more on what comedogenic means. Also in the guides: What causes acne.
