Is Stearyl Alcohol comedogenic?
No. Stearyl Alcohol isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Stearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol, a waxy thickener with none of the drying properties of the alcohol in a toner. It is not on the pore-clogging references we curate against.
It is easily confused with stearic acid, which we do read more cautiously, and with cetearyl alcohol blends that include a separate emulsifier. Those are different ingredients.
