How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Beta-Glucan comedogenic?
No. Beta-Glucan isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Beta-glucan is a long chain of sugars drawn from oats, yeast or mushrooms, used as a humectant that holds water against the skin and leaves a light, soothing film. There is no oil or wax in it, and we read every form of it as not pore-clogging.
The nuance
The name changes with the source and the processing, so oat beta-glucan and sodium carboxymethyl beta-glucan are the same family on a label. It is usually a small part of a formula, and the base built around it decides how heavy the product feels.
Where it shows up
Hydrating serums, essences, mists and sheet masks, plus moisturizers and eye creams sold for dry or sensitive skin.
