How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Sodium Hyaluronate comedogenic?
No. Sodium Hyaluronate isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid, a humectant that holds water at the surface of the skin and gives a formula its plump, hydrated feel. It dissolves fully in water and adds no oil. We read it as one that leaves pores alone.
The nuance
A bottle sold as hyaluronic acid usually lists this name on the back, so the two are easy to take for different things. Serums built on it tend to be light, while a cream that features it can still carry heavier emollients.
Where it shows up
Hydrating serums, essences, sheet masks and gel moisturizers, where it is often the first thing named on the front. Eye creams, lip products and foundations use it as well.
