How we read it

Not pore-clogging

Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.

Is Snow Mushroom Extract comedogenic?

No. Snow Mushroom Extract isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.

Why we read it this way

Snow mushroom extract is taken from Tremella fuciformis, a pale jelly-like fungus, and is used as a lightweight humectant. Its polysaccharides hold water against the skin and leave a smooth finish. It is a water-based extract with no oil in it, so we read it as not pore-clogging.

The nuance

It is often sold as an alternative to hyaluronic acid, a comparison about hydration and not pores. Ingredient lists give it under its Latin name, Tremella Fuciformis. A serum built around it can still carry esters or oils lower on the label.

Where it shows up

Hydrating serums, essences, gel moisturizers and sheet masks, often alongside hyaluronic acid or glycerin. It also turns up in lightweight eye creams and hydrating mists.
