How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Oat Extract comedogenic?
No. Oat Extract isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Oat extract is taken from the oat kernel and brings beta-glucan and other soothing compounds to a formula, where it helps skin hold water and feel less tight. It is the water-loving side of the grain, not the oil. We read it as not pore-clogging.
The nuance
Oat kernel oil is the lipid fraction of the same grain and sits on a label under its own name. Our reading here covers the extract only, so a product built on oat oil is a separate question from one that lists the extract.
Where it shows up
It appears in moisturizers and cleansers for dry or sensitive skin, body lotions for itchy skin, baby care, bath soaks and gentle shampoos.
