How we read it
Not a pore-clogger. Considered safe for acne-prone skin.
Is Calendula Extract comedogenic?
No. Calendula Extract isn't considered pore-clogging, and we read it as safe to use on acne-prone skin. That doesn't make it right for everyone, but congestion isn't the thing to watch for with it.
Why we read it this way
Calendula extract comes from the flowers of the pot marigold and is used to comfort dry, chapped or easily upset skin. It usually makes up a small share of the formula it appears in. We read the flower extract as not pore-clogging.
The nuance
Calendula is often sold as an infusion, with the flowers steeped in a carrier oil that is listed on the label in its own right. Any pore-clogging question belongs to that carrier oil, which has its own reading, and not to the flower.
Where it shows up
It is common in balms and salves for chapped skin, diaper creams, baby washes, hand creams and gentle facial moisturizers.
